Lighting, systems of; light reflected by trough-shaped reflectors.-Show cases, shop windows, or the like are illuminated by lamps contained within steps or recessed blocks mounted on the rear portion of each shelf so that the lamps are not directly visible. Each shelf a may be of wood with preferably, glazed apertures or preferably of plate glass, and the steps may consist of box-like structures or of a riser and a tread portion secured to the shelf or to the back of the show case or to both. The steps are preferably covered with black material and may be provided with tubular electric lamp bulbs d and with one or more longitudinal apertures in their under side. When recessed blocks are employed, they may be lined with parabolic or other reflectors. The top shelf may be illuminated by a lamp f at the top front corner.
