Abstract
270,801. Archibald, W., and Smith & Archibald, Ltd. Feb. 11, 1926. Lace.-Relates to the production in curtain machines of filet net lace with coloured cloth effects, there being two or more colours in the same bar, or vertical line of squares D. The coloured effects are obtained from spool threads e, f, which are operated by their respective guidebars in such a way that the ordinary filet net thread or shot e can be made to cloth as shown at B or can be prevented from showing, while threads f of a. different colour or colours are made to cloth at other places as shown at C. The threads f are normally intercepted by jacks, which are drawn out at the places where the pattern is to be clothed by the action of a jacquard. A second jacquard, running at double the speed, controls jacks which intercept the threads e by means of cards, half of which are punched to correspond to the pattern of cloth while the remainder are punched to correspond to the pattern of openwork required, these cardsbeing arranged to come into action alternately. The jacquards may run at the same speed in which case the guide-bar for the threads e iscaused by its cam to complete its cycle of operations twice for each cycle of movements of theother two guide-bars.
