Abstract

184,615. Caldicott, R., and Webster, J. B. June 1, 1921. Figured fabrics; corded fabrics; ground weaves. -Fabrics with a raised face comprising warp loops are woven from sets of warp threads some of which each comprise a face-warp thread 11, passing over three and under one weft thread 10, and a back-warp thread 13, passing under the first three and over the fourth weft thread, as well as two tie-in warp threads 19, 20 woven as shown. Each set of warp threads may contain a slack back-warp thread 16 and a tight one 13 controlled by separate shafts, and also several jacquard-controlled face-warp threads which are lifted in any desired sequence, though each passes over three and under one weft thread' except in certain parts of the fabric, where some of them may pass under three and over one weft thread in order to produce a pattern. The fabric may have a face of silk or artificial silk, and a back of cotton. According to the Provisional Specification, each set may comprise only a single face warp and a single back warp.
