Abstract
260,904. Ansonia O. & C. Co., and Clauss, G. E. April 24, 1926, [Convention date]. Elastic fabrics. - The fabrics are woven with a single layer of elastic warp cords 12, and with textile back warps 13 - - 16 arranged in groups and intersecting in the manner shown in Figs. 4, 5 and 6, with weft threads 17, 20 which repeat after each 10 picks to produce a fabric with a ribbed or reticulated face and a soft back. The ribs are formed by face picks 17 passing over the elastic warps. In a modification, two such face picks 17a, 17b, Fig. 7, are used. The back warp threads 13 - - 16 serve as a stuffing for the fabric and with the back picks 18 - - 20 appear mainly on the back of the cloth. Each weft pick may comprise one or more threads, preferably two threads of mercerized cotton yarn. The binder threads are preferably of mercerized cotton yarn and the elastic warps comprise rubber threads covered with two layers of cotton yarn. There are single rubber warp cords at the selvages. The fabric may be used for corsets, girdles, abdominal supports, and elastic bandages.
