Abstract

270,091. Newbery, G., Paxon, F. J., and May & Baker, Ltd. May 7, 1926. Unsymmetrical arylarseno compounds containing as one half of the molecule an N-arylaminoacidamide are prepared by the processes described in Specifications 11709/11 and 11901/11. The products possess therapeutic properties. Examples are given of the preparation of (1) 3-amino-4- hydroxy-4<1>-glycinamido-arsenobenzene by condensing N-phenylglycinamide-4-dichlorarsine (or the corresponding arsenious oxide) with 3-amino- 4-hydroxyphenylarsine, or by reducing with sodium hydrosulphite a mixture of N -phenylglycinamide-4-arsinic acid and 3-amino-4-hydroxyphenyl arsinic acid; (2) 3-acetylamino-4-hydroxy- 4<1>-glycinamido-arsenabenzene by reducing with sodium hydrosulphite a mixture of 3-acetylamino- 4-hydroxyphenylarsinic acid and N-phenylglycinamide-4-arsinic acid; (3) 3-amino-4-hydroxy-5- acetylamino - 4<1> - glycinamido-arsenobenzene by hydrosulphite reduction of 3-amino-4-hydroxy-5- acetylamino-phenylarsinic acid and 4-glycinamido-phenylarsinic acid; (4) 2-hydroxy-5-acetylamino-4<1>-glycinamido-arsenobenzene by reducing with sodium hydrosulphite a mixture of 2- hydroxy-5-acetylamino-phenylarsinic acid and 4- glycinamidophenylarsinic acid. Specification 120,381 is also referred to. 3-Acetylamino-4-hydroxyphenylarsine is prepared by acetylating 3-amino-4-hydroxyphenylarsine, which is itself prepared by the process described in Specification 11625/11. N-Phenylglycinamide-4-dichlorarsine is obtained by reducing N-phenylglycinamide-4-arsinic acid with sulphur dioxide and hydriodic acid, and dissolving the resulting arsenious oxide in concentrated hydrochloric acid. 3-Amino - 4-hyclroxy-5-acetylaminophenylarsinic acid is prepared by nitrating 5-acetylamino-4- hydroxyphenylarsinic acid and reducing the resulting 3-nitro derivative.
