Abstract

270,028. Vokes, C. G. Feb. 16, 1926. Driving auxiliary parts. - For a windscreen cleaner driven from a moving part of a vehicle, centrifugally acting means are provided to prevent excessive variation in the speed of the drive. As shown a shaft 2, adapted to be driven from the gear box and to be connected by a flexible shaft to a speedometer, is provided with a squared portion on which is mounted a friction disc 5 pressed downwardly by a spring 6. The disc is adapted to drive a spring-pressed disc 9. A counterbalanced lever 7 connected by a link 8 to the disc 5 is mounted on the shaft 2. The disc is adapted to drive the windscreen cleaner through the medium of a spindle 12 and a flexible shaft. As the speed of the car increases the disc 5 is drawn gradually towards the periphery of a disc 9 thereby decreasing the ratio of driven to driving speed. According to the Provisional Specification a centrifugally-operated slipping clutch may be employed instead of the friction discs.
