Abstract

Plug couplings.-The terminal pins 25 of an electric iron are retained in position in the plate 13 by insulating material formed by an oxidizing process and occupying a greater bulk than its solid ingredients. The ends of the pins are forced into the resistance 21 and surrounded by an open helix or strip of metallic magnesium after which they are subjected to high temperature and high pressure steam as described in Specification 173,742, [Class 36, Electricity, Conducting &c.], the metallic magnesium being changed to magnesium oxide with 100 per cent increase in bulk so that the pins are firmly secured in the plate.
