Abstract

268,245. Bentley, J. H. Nov. 3, 1926. Ball and like mills.-In a tube or like mill mounted on an horizontal or substantially horizontal axis, the diameters of the grinding chamber or chambers 1--4, Fig. 1, successively increase from the inlet end a to the outlet end b of the mill by means of concentric rings or cylinders which are parallel to the axis of the mill. The vertical diaphragm plates each consist of two separate discs 5, 6, Fig. 2, having taper slots 7 therein so disposed that the narrowest part is located in the middle, of the discs. The discs are secured by angle-rings 8 bolted to the shell of the mill. A packing-ring 11 may be riveted between the shell plates 12, 13 of adjoining chambers.
