267,771. Swan, Hunter, & W. Richardson, Ltd., and Hunter, N. M. July 10, 1926. Shearing.-A plate N is fed to a punching &c. machine V on one or more bogies. The plate is supported on idle races M and movable platforms F, F<1>, F<2>, on bogies running on wheels C driven through gearing from an electric motor P. The platform F is traversed by a screw G actuated from a handwheel H, and the platforms F<1>, F<2> are moved by screws G', G<2> cross-connected by a shaft E and driven from a handwheel H<1>. By manipulating the handwheels the plate can be slewed. In a modification the plate is supported on two platforms on a single bogie and the end of the plate is connected to a screw-operated rod.
