Abstract

154,850. Vicars, T., and Vicars, E. L. June 30, 1919. Sheet-cutting machines. - Relates to table-adjusting means for biscuit &c. cutting and embossing machines, and consists in the provision of screw adjusting-means at different parts of the table which are operable collectively or individually by common handoperating mechanism. The table 3 is supported from the base 2 by screws 1 having rounded heads engaging recesses in the table, such screws being movable vertically by screwed gears 4 operable by worm gear. A set of screws and gears 4 is provided at each end of the table, one set being operated by the worm 10 mounted on a shaft 12, whilst the other is operated by a second worm mounted on a sleeve 11, Fig. 2, surrounding the shaft 12. Hand-wheels 22, 23, mounted upon the sleeve 11 and shaft 12 respectively, may be operated individually or may be coupled by clutch members 24, the hand-wheel 23 being movable axially along the shaft 12 of a screwed cap 26. The base 2 is provided with curved trunnions or journals, about which it is adjustable by a nut 16, Fig. 3, working on a screwed rod 17 suspended from a shaft 21, and acting upon a lever 18 secured by screws 19 to one of the journals.
