[Class 6 (i)] In cultivator attachments for tractors in which a tiller drum is pivoted about and driven by a driven main shaft parallel to it, known means are detachably fitted at one end of the main shaft for connecting it to the drum shaft and for driving the latter while at the other end a fixed journal in line with the main shaft pivotally supports a simple divided bar provided with a neck bearing for the drum shaft, sliding movement of the bar on the fixed journal normally being prevented by a movable stop. The main shaft 4 is driven from a worm shaft 3 by bevel gearing in a casing 7. The known transmission means comprises chain gearing 8, 9, 11 enclosed in a tube 12. The latter is provided with a bearing part 14 encircling a bearing box 15 for the shaft 4 and the chain wheel 8 is detachably secured on the end of the shaft 4 by a nut 17 which is accessible after removing a cover 18. The fixed journal 21 for the divided bar 24, 25 is rigidly connected with the gear casing 7, and a movable collar 23 normally prevents movement of the bar along the journal. The tube 12 and bar 24, 25 are connected by a bolt 27 fastened to a chain 29 which regulates the depth of work. Part of the weight of the cultivator attachment is carried by chains 30 connected to springs. The cultivator attachment is removable after the nut 17 and lever 18 are removed, the collar 23 loosened, the supporting-chains unhooked, and the bar 24, 25 divided by removing bolts 28. Where the square tiller shaft 10 passes through the bearing in the bar 24, 25 it is encircled by a slidable cylindrical body 32 connecting together two conical members 33 engaging in slidable hollow conical members 35 fixed in the tubular body parts 34 of the tiller. A single spring 36 presses together all the clamping members throughout the length of the tiller drum, and thus connects the tubular parts 34 to the shaft 10.
