Abstract
266,795. Ross, T. B. Nov. 25, 1925. Endless-track vehicles.-An endless-track of resilient material, such as canvas, rubber, fabric or the like, is displaced during its motion from a position in a longitudinal vertical plane into a position substantially parallel to the ground. The track comprises an endless band 6 having separate fingers or ribs 7 integrally connected at one or both ends, and passes over idle pulleys 1, 2, the axles of which carry guides 11, 12 for the track. The top run of the track lies in a vertical plane and as it passes over one of the guides the fingers 7 are bent over until at the bottom of the pulley they lie in a horizontal plane and are transverse of the vehicle. The guide at the other end of the track gradually allows the fingers to take a vertical position again. The driving wheel 5 thus runs on the horizontal portion of the track, and the vertically-disposed upper run of the track passes at the side of the driving wheel. One of the pulleys 1, 2, may be driven. The fingers 7 may be reinforced internally or externally by leaf springs. According to the Provisional Specificataion the band may be a metal one.
