Abstract

291,903. Crooke, S. E., and Crossley Motors, Ltd. March 18, 1927. Endless-track vehicles.-An endless track comprises two or more endless flexible metallic members A, transverse members B at intervals connecting the longitudinal members A, rigid driving blocks C attached to the upper surface of the track, and a covering or casing G of rubber, canvas or similar material. The ropes or, members A may be kinked, as shown, in passing through blocks D, D<1> carrying the members B, or the latter may pass through eyes formed in the ropes A. The blocks may be formed of metal and the holes d therein filled with lead, solder, sulphur or other fusible material, or the blocks may be of vulcanized rubber or fibre and the holes filled with rubber or other plastic material. The driving-blocks C may be central, as shown, or they may be in pairs leaving a central roller tread between, and they are secured to the blocks D<1> by screws d' which may also serve to secure channel plates H carrying renewable rubber-tread blocks. The members A may consist of links of wire rope connecting the transverse members B together. The track may be formed as a continuous one or may have its ends connected together by a screw or other coupling.
