Circulating or passing fluids through materials mounted on tubes or drums.-In a washing or dyeing apparatus hollow perforated work - holding means, such as captube holders 5, are supported round the periphery of a hollow member or drum 4 rotatable in a tank and a non-rotatable conduit 5 extends axially into the rotatable member and then downwards to the neighbourhood of the periphery of the drum. Material, such as artificial silk, wound loosely on cap-tubes 1, is placed on the holders and liquid is drawn therethrough, as the drum rotates in the tank, by suction applied to the pipe 5. Two cop-tubes are preferably mounted on each holder and secured by an end-piece 19, packing 18 being employed to ensure the passage of the liquid through the material only.
