331,706. Schumacher, F. G., and M³ller, J. J. July 20, 1929. Treating substances with liquids.-A machine for the dyeing, bleaching, &c. of loose yarns or bobbins comprises upper and lower vessels 3, 4 mounted in a framing 1 and a double cover 12 for the upper vessel or dye vat 3, the cover containing a gear wheel 16 adapted to rotate pinions 17 secured to tubes 19 which extend from the dye vat into glass cylinders 27 supported by the cover and provided with drain pipes 28; rotatable conveyer screws 20 are mounted in the tubes and raise liquor from the vat 3 to the interior of bobbins 22 or drums 23 mounted on the heads 21 of the tubes. In operation, dye liquor is run into the lower vessel 4 and heated by electric or other heaters' 10; washing water is run into the dye vat 3 and, on rotation of the gear 16 is forced through the bobbins 22 or drums 23, thrown against the glass cylinders 27 and returns by the drain pipes 28. On completion of the washing, the vat 3 is emptied, dye liquor is sucked into it through a pipe 6 from the lower vessel 4 and the rotation of the tubes 19 repeated. After dyeing the tubes are rotated whilst the vat is empty and the material is dried by centrifuge.
