Insulating - coverings for cables; cables, arrangement and disposition of parts of.-In oil-impregnated cables, the movements of the impregnating oil under temperature changes are compensated by providing the cable with internal resilient devices to prevent the occurrence of vacuous spaces. In the construction shown in Fig. 1 the cable core is formed of rubber 7 enclosed in a lead sheath 6. Fig. 2 shows another construction in which a hollow rubber core 8 contains a flattened pipe 9 of resilient material. Various forms of pipes, either alone or surrounded by a rubber sheath, may be used for the core.
