Abstract
265,966. Siemens - Schuckertwerke Ges. Feb. 15, 1926, [Convention date]. Transformers.-In order to reduce the heating of the iron casing adjoining the lead-in conductors to heavy current apparatus, the conductors 13 are surrounded partially or wholly by shortcircuit connections acting as screens. One such connection is shown in Fig. 4 applied to an arched or domed switch cover 11 with lead-in points in the form of tubes 121, 122. The tubes 121, 122 are lined with copper tubes 15, 16 which are united by straps 17, 18 so that the whole forms a closed winding or current transformer with a 1 : 1 ratio. The straps could be brought close to the cover as shown in dotted lines, or, as shown in Fig. 6, the windings could be in the form of rings 20 of sheet copper, the rings being interconnected by peripheral rivets 21 and arranged round each lead-in-point. Fig. 8 shows a winding of several turns 22, in circuit with which is a. measuring instrument 23, relay, or release device, whereas in Fig. 9 the winding 22 encloses the iron circuit 24 of a release device. The winding could be constituted by a surface of copper deposited either electrolytieally, or by spraying, or rolling on.
