Materials, special; alloys.-A plug cock has the casing made of a magnesium alloy sold under the trade name of "Electron Metal" or an alloy of similar composition and the plug of steel, cast iron, malleable cast iron or similarly hard metal. Electron metal consists of aluminium between 3.5 and 4.5 per cent, zinc between 2.5 and 3.5 per cent, manganese between 0.25 and 0.7 per cent, copper not more than 0.4 per cent, lead not more than 0.4 per cent, tin not more than 0.2 per cent, magnesium the remainder. The casing may be cut from the solid or cast and may be chilled internally and externally. Specifications 15038/08, [Class 82, Metals and alloys]; and 6993/09, 23439/09, 23440/09, 23441/09, 27132/09, 29795/09, 22016/10, 182,948, and 187,943, [all in Class 82 (i), Metals, Extracting &c.] ; are referred to. According to the Provisional Specification the plug may be of stainless steel.
