Abstract

265,257. Ridley, F. T. Sept. 28, 1925. Ornamenting.-For the coating or covering of articles with cellulose acetate, the latter is employed as a sheet, tube, or other solid colloided form, and after softening the material by treatment with aqueous acetone in aqueous alcohol, the softened sheet or tube is stretched over the article, and finally allowed to dry, when the coating returns to its original condition while retaining its lustre. To the aqueous alcohol solution there may be added a proportion of ether and to either solution may be added soap for the purpose of removing grease &c. The solutions after repeated use, may be revivified by heating to temperatures up to the boiling point of the liquid.
