264,614. Pulsometer Engineering Co., Ltd., and Bj÷rnstad, J. Nov. 5,1925. Casings.-To prevent the absorption of air by water whilst passing through an extraction pump delivering water from a surface condenser or water de-aerator to a boiler feed pump the pump casing is provided with a water chamber 13 in restricted communication with the impeller chamber 11 through a bearing bush hole 19 in the dividing wall 14 between the two chambers and wherein a small impeller 20 rotates to prevent reaching the hole 19 in the dividing wall. The water chamber 13 at its upper portion has a connection to a hot well. The bearing 8 at the other end of the casing is totally enclosed, and a flow of water therethrough is obtained by a duct between the flanges forming the joint of the casing- halves which leads from the pump delivery chamber 12 to the outer 17 end of the bearing, the inner end opening to a balancing chamber 16 which has a connection 24 with the impeller chamber 11.
