263,671. Twirlie Mop & Polish Co., Ltd., and Helliwell, F. 0. June 9, 1926. Pivoted handles.-The pivoted handle of a mop or like cleansing appliance is automatically locked when rocked to a definite angle with respect to an otherwise freely pivoted mop head, by the inter-engagement of the handle socket with the pivot plate of the mop head. As shown, the mop head 1 is provided with a plate 5 having lugs 8 to support a pivot pin 10 on which is mounted the handle socket 9. The lugs 8 are provided with studs 12 adapted to engage in apertures 11 in the socket 9. The relative positions of the studs and apertures are such that when the mop is being used on the floor the handle has free pivotal movement, whereas the handle can be locked when the mop is operating on a vertical surface.
