Abstract

1,170,650. Self-wringing mops. E. HEID. 22 Nov., 1967 [2 Dec., 1966], No. 53133/67. Heading A4F. [Also in Division E2] In a self-wringing mop having a detachable sponge mop head 6, 7, which may be replaced by a polishing cloth, broom, or other cleaning head, a base plate 1 to which the cleaning head is removably attached has a squeezing plate 3 connected thereto by two linkages 10, 11 and adopted to rest on the top surface of the base plate 1 when not in use, the links 10, 11 being of U-shaped cross-section and dimensioned to rest one in the other when the squeezing plate 3 is in its inoperative position. The squeezing plate 3 is provided with an operating handle 9a shaped to engage the mop handle 9. The sponge mop head 7 is secured to a plate 6 having ridges (not shown) in its upper surface for fitting between ridges on the lower surface of the base plate 1, and plates 1, 6 are held together by two pins 4 each having a slot 22 for receiving an end of a lever 23 having a slot 25 receiving a pin 24 secured to a U-section rib 12 on the base plate 1.
