Abstract

1286784 Scrubbing and scouring tools; brushes; mops and squeegees SCHLEGAL MFG CO 19 April 1971 [3 Feb 1970] 23007/71 Headings A4K and A4F A cleaning tool comprises a foamed resin sponge-like block 13 mounted on a detachable mophead 10, said block having a generally plane scrubbing face 14, a generally plane scouring region 16 adjacent said scrubbing face 14 and recessed relative thereto, and a generally plane piece of coarse and stiff pile material 17 secured to the scouring region 16, e.g. by adhesive, so that the tips 18 of the pile elements are recessed relative to the scrubbing face 14, allowing the tool to be used with light pressure to move only said scrubbing face 14 over a surface 15 and to be used with heavier pressure to compress said block 13 to bring said pile material 17 into scouring contact with the surface 15, see Fig.2 (not shown). The pile elements are sparsely scattered over a woven fabric backing. A squeegee 19 on mophead 10 can also be moved over the surface 15, see Fig.3 (not shown). Two or more scrubbing faces and/or scouring regions may be provided Figs.5-7 (not shown).
