Abstract

379,266. Mops. SENDLER, T., 7, Konigstrasse, Stettin, Germany. June 16, 1932, No. 17007. Convention date, Nov. 19, 1931. [Class 19.] A mop for floors, walls, and the like, provided with a divided head and squeezing means, is characterized in that the handle is hinged to the divided head so that the mop can reach underneath furniture and be applied flat to walls. The mop head parts also are capable of being swung towards one another by a pulling device on the handle for squeezing out the mop. Parts a, b, Fig. 1, of the mop have coverings d and are pivoted at p to two side plates e. A forked handle c is pivoted at n to the side plates. A hook k locks the handle. Attached to each part a, b is a toothed segment r secured by a bolt s. To one segment r is hinged by a link m a rod h movable in the mop handle i. Movement of the rod h rocks the segments r so as to squeeze the parts d together. The rod h, Fig. 4, has a transverse pin t working in slots w in the handle i. A recess v serves to lock the pin t in its lowest position corresponding with the position shown in Fig. 1. A sleeve x surrounds the handle and holes through which the pin t passes are of such a length that the pin can move transversely under the action of a spring f to engage the slot v. To hold the rod h in position when the mop is in use, the rod has a projection y which engages with a hole in the hollow handle i as soon as the rod h under the action of the spring f is pressed into its lowermost position in the slot v. If the mop parts are to be squeezed, then the pin t is forced out of the slots v by outside projections (not shown) into the slots w. The sleeve x can now move upwardly and the mop parts be forced together to squeeze out the water.
