Abstract

Alarm mechanism; striking-mechanism.-In an alarm clock the cam disc which coacts with the alarm setting pin, instead of being acted upon by a special spring, is pressed upon by the alarm spring itself acting through suitable transmission mechanism. The alarm spring 1 acts through gearing 3 and scape wheel 2 upon an anchor 4 which, together with an arm 7 and hammer 6, is rigid with a shaft 5. Thus the alarm spring tends to press the arm 7 downwards, Fig. 8; the arm 7, however, rests upon a bellcrank 20<1>, 20, 20<2>. whereby the arm 20<2> presses outwards the axial cam 13 co-operating with the setting pin 16. When this pin registers with the notch in the cam the bellcrank is rocked and the arm 7 descends further so that the alarm may now be operated freely. In a modification, an alarm disabling device is provided in which a pawl, operated from a setting screw, locks in the teeth of the scape wheel. In a further modification, an additional arm on the bellcrank 20 is locked against movement by a hand-operated plunger. The known art is also illustrated.
