Abstract

262,956. Wade, H., (Mills Novelty Co.). Dec. 23, 1925. Alternating-current motors. - A violin &c. operated by alternating-current has an induction motor for rotating the bows or sounders, which motor has a number of windings selectively connected in the circuit to determine the speed of the motor. The motor consists of a squirrel-cage rotor 27, Fig .4. and a laminated stator 30 with teeth 32, 33 on which are provided four-pole series windings 34, bipolar series windings 35 of smaller number and larger wire, and split-pbase series windings 36. The normal motor circuit is from main 40, Fig. 6, through lead 42, coils 34, lead 44 and coils 35 to main 41. In this circuit the coils 34 are dominant. To increase the speed, a contact 47 or 47<a> connects the man 40 to lead 44, shunting out the coils 34. To decrease the speed, a contact 49 or 49<a> connects the main 40 to the coils 36, the connection through the coils 34, 35 remaining. Specification 262,603 is referred to.
