Abstract

261,119. Evans, F. C. Aug. 24, 1925. Refuse-consuming furnaces.-House refuse and the like is consumed in a trough 1 of V-section sunk beneath the ground level and provided with a grate 2 situated a short distance above the bottom of the trough to provide an air duct 3 to which air is supplied by passages 4 or by forced draught. A manhole 5 is provided at the end of the trough to facilitate the removal of ashes &c. The refuse is arranged in strata, bulky materials such as tins being placed at the bottom and covered bv refuse from the residues of which materials of manurial value mav be obtained. A layer of ashes or like material tending to delay combustion is placed on top.
