Abstract
260,981. Filature de Coton T. Barrois, Soc. Anon. Nov. 5, 1925, [Convention date]. Stop-motions. - In an arrangement for stopping an opening machine on the passage of a foreign body between the calender rollers the upper roller 3, Fig. 1, is loose and is driven frictionally by the lap passing between the rollers and controls automatic means for stopping the lower driven roller when the speed of the loose roller is checked by the attempted passage of an obstacle. The upper roller 3 carries a ratchet-wheel 5 engaged by pawls 1<a> mounted on a cam 1 loose on the shaft 2. A second cam 7, controlled by a spring 8, engages the cam 1 and is driven by a gear 10 on the shaft 9 of the lower roller 4. When the roller 3 is stopped by the passage of a foreign body, the continued rotation of the cam 7 forces it away from the cam 1 and the gear 6 is moved over a gear 11 loose on the shaft 9, so as to rotate a cam 12 and operate the stopping-lever 17, Fig. 5. The cam 12 is provided with a cord 20 and weight 19 tending to rotate it in the opposite direction to its normal movement. The shaft 9 carries a gear 13, engaging a gear 15 on the lever 17 and after a stated time toothed arms 13<a>, 15<a> engage and force the lever 17 to one side to stop the machine.
