Abstract
260,902. Brewer, G., (Ernemann-Werk-c Akt.-Ges.). June 16, 1926. Kinematograph apparatus.-In a continuousfeed projector having a rotating helical mirror for optical compensation, the length of the light paths from any point on the film to the lens is maintained constant by causing the film, or a real image of it, to move obliquely through the axis of projection and the light beam. As shown diagrammatically in Fig. 2, the film 1<1> passes obliquely through the beam 6 from a light source 4, and the beam is reflected by a helical mirror 2 to a prism 7 causing the virtual image of the film to lie at right angles to the axis of the lens 3. The real image of a film passing normally or obliquely through the axis of projection may be rendered oblique by means of a combined lens and prism system. Fig. 4 shows a construction in which the film in a gate 13 is illuminated by a beam from a light 4 reflected from one part of the helical mirror 2, the light beam being also reflected by a fixed mirror 17 on to another part of the mirror 2 by which compensation is effected. Lenses 8 produce a real image of the film in proximity to the mirror 2, and the prism 7 virtually turns this image so as to lie normal to the axis of the projection lens 3.
