Abstract

260,149. Wilson, A. A. March 8, 1926. Springs, arrangement of; guiding vertical play. -In a front suspension for motor and other vehicles of the type comprising an equalizing transverse spring 15 centrally pivoted at the front of the vehicle and connected by double shackles 13, 14 to the front ends of the side springs 9, adjustable radius rods 22 are attached at one. end to the side springs and at the other end to the front of the vehicle. The front ends of the rods 22 are formed with eyes and are carried by a rod 20 which passes through the usual bearings 12 at the front ends of the dumb irons 8 and through :a tubular member 19 arranged between the dumbirons, the parts being held in position by nuts 21. The rear ends of the rods 22 are each threaded to engage a nut 15 mounted on trunnions 26 in a bracket 27 preferably integral with the clamping plate 28 of the spring 9. The clip-member 16 of the transverse spring 15 is pivoted at 18a to a clip 18 on the tubular member 19.
