Abstract

259,019. Carling, G. Sept. 24, 1925. Whistles; fluid supply.-Means for operating a whistle &c. by the exhaust gases of a motor vehicle comprises a spring-controlled shaft 13 mounted in bearings 11, 12 in the expansion chamber or silencer 1 and carrying a bifurcated member 21 provided with a rack 27, the shaft 13 being operable to close the normal outlet 5 and open the passage 19 to the whistle 20 by means of a second shaft 29 which carries a pinion 28 meshing with the rack 27 and is operable from the exterior by a Bowden wire &c. The whistle 20 may be provided with a number of holes 32 or with an ornamental screen or grid.
