Abstract

258,854. Soc. of Chemical Industry in Basle. Sept. 24, 1925, [Convention date]. Azo dyes.-The amino-o-oxy-azo dyes obtained by reducing the azo dyes from the nitrated 1-diazo-2-oxynaphthalene-4-sulphonic acid and a naphthol are treated with formaldehyde and bisulphite or with formaldehyde sulphurous acid or its salts. The products are particularly suitable for dyeing animal fibres with the aid of chrome mordants. the usual methods being employed. In an example, a paste of the reduced dyestuff from nitrated 1-diazo-2-oxynaphthalene-4-sulphonic acid and #-naphthol is stirred at 50‹ C. with caustic soda, formaldehyde, and sodium bisulphite and the product salted out.
