Abstract

258,834. Hart, A. H. Sept. 23, 1925, [Convention date]. Welding.-In the electric-welding of parts of highly electricaly conductive material such as copper or brass, the parts are subjected between the electrodes to a pressure greater than 100 pounds and less than 400 pounds according to the composition and thackness of the materials, while an electric current is passed through the electrodes and work. A pressure of 235 pounds is suitable for welding parts of an alloy consisting of 66 per cent copper and 34 per cent zinc, the pressure being increased or decreased according as the percentage of copper is decreased or increased. Disc electrodes with an edge thickness of about “" are preferably used.
