Picking-sticks; lays.-In a loom in which the lay A moves in a truly horizontal path on two pairs of lay-swords B, B', the picking stick 7 is universally mounted so as not to jam. The picking - stick holder is pivoted on a spindle 6, which is pivotally mounted at d in one arm of a bracket a and guided in a slot in the other arm. The bracket is fixed to the shaft b which one pair of swords B oscillates.
