Bedsteads convertible into seats de. - In a settee convertible into a single or double bedstead, of the kind comprising hinged frames 26 which in one position support the back 21 in an elevated position, and in their extended position support the back in a horizontal position, the seat 16 carries bars 20, the ends of which engage either the front rail 1 or the back rail 2, thus permitting a slight forward or backward movement of the seat. Chains 35, 36 limit the outward movement of the frames 26, which, when folded against the back rail 2, are secured by hooks 43 engaging eyes 44. When the back is lowered, the hooks 43 engage eyes 42 on a stiffening rail 41 which latter, together with the bars 20, then prevent movement of the seat and back. A single bed may be formed merely by turning the back 21 down on to the seat 16 and the device may then be used as a cot by placing it against a wall to close one side and by filling in the space between the folded frames 26 by means of a chair.
