Locking nuts.-A disc 3 of tempered steel housed in a radial slit in a spring washer 1 has its edges normally protruding from both faces of the washer but adapted to lie flush with the faces against the elastic pressure of the washer when the nut is tightened. A projection on the washer made by punching, as at 4, engages a recess 5 in the disc.
