Abstract

257,369. Parsons, R. H. June 15, 1925. Compound and multiple expansion engines.- Steam or similar fluid is reheated in its passage between the stages of a turbine or other engine by passing it through a restricted conduit surrounded bv a heating chamber in the manner described in Specification 4963/02, [Class 123, Steam generators]. The steam may be heated in stages m a conduit 12, Fig. 3, having several contractions surrounded successively by heaters 2 supplied with high-pressure steam of progressively increasing temperatures. Several such heaters may surround a conduit with a single contraction formed by gradually restricting the conduit between its inlet and outlet. The restriction may be formed by inserting parallelsided tubes 1, Fig. 1, between portions of the conduit 5 on each side of the heater 2.
