Abstract
257,232. Soc. Alsacienne de Constructions MÚcaniques, (Assignees of Gegauff, C.). Aug. 19, 1925, [Convention date]. Combing-machines.-In a combing-machine of the Heilmann type, in which the nippers are reciprocated between the combing position and the detaching position, in order to secure that the nipping point shall move in a path f2, f1, f, Fig. 1, which shall be concentric with or tangential to the comb needles, and then rise in an arc to a point near the detaching-rollers b, b1, and be in the direction of movement of the lap, the bottom jaw is carried by arms g1 pivoted at i to an arm on a rock-shaft k. The arms are supported by a rod o, pivoted at g, and carrying two studs p, p<1> adapted to engage and to turn in notches q, q'. The rod o is controlled by a spring r. The upper jaw e is pivoted to the lower jaw at h and carries a cam surface m, m<1> held in engagement with a fixed roller l by a spring n. As the nipper moves back from the position shown in Fig. 1, the arms g are controlled by the rod o rocking about the stud p1. The nippers then close under the action of the cam m, m1, and the form of this cam determines the remainder of the motion. The rod o now pivots about the stud p, but the spring r allows its effective length to be reduced. The cam m, m1 may be fixed and the roller carried by the upper jaw, and the rod o may carry a curved surface rocking on a plane or curved fixed surface in place of the studs p, p, and notches q, q1. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also an arrangement in which the cam m, m1, Fig. 4 (Cancelled), is fixed at the rear of the upper arm carrying the upper jaw and is engaged by a roller l on an extension of this arm. The rod o has only a single pivot p and a second pivoting rod t with a slotted end engaging a pin s is provided. In a further arrangement the lower jaw may have a cam surface engaging a spring supported roller in place of the rod o, or the cam may be fixed and the roller carried by the lower jaw. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specificacation as accepted.
