Abstract

256,853. Brown, C. H. Jan. 14, 1926. Measuring-tapes. - A foot-measuring device comprises a two-edged calibrated member 10, a flexible measuring member 16 for passing over the foot at the joints, and a board 18 at rightangles to the member 10, serving as a rest for the heel which fits into corner blocks 20. One end of the member 16 is fastened to an index member 14, slidably mounted on a rod 12, secured in a groove 11 in the member 10. Two measurements usually suffice, viz. the length of the foot from the heel to the joint of the big toe, and the distance across the metatarsal arch. The measurements are taken in inches and may be converted into symbols by consulting a table printed on the back of the member 10.
