Abstract

623,048. Measuring and fitting footwear. CLARK, Ltd., C. & J., and MACKAY, J. E. Sept. 26, 1946, No. 28780. [Class 17 (iii)] A device for use in measuring feet for fitting footwear comprises a rectangular frame 2 with a footsupporting bar 1 spanning the length of the frame opening 3 in such way as to leave slots 4 at the sides. The bar 1 supports a fixed heel stop 5 and a slidable toe stop 6, which is engaged with the toe of a foot, and indicates on a scale card, preferably removably held, in a recess in the top of the bar, the footwear size for the fooc. A block 15 is suspended by flanges 14 in the frame opening in such a way as to slide and swivel therein and carries a tape 17 the free ends of which are looped together over the foot. Readings on the tape are related to scales on the scale card to indicate the " fitting " required.
