972, 577. Foot measuring devices. C. & J. CLARK Ltd. June 6, 1961 [March 11, 1960], No. 8620/60. Heading G1X. A foot measuring appliance comprises a foot support with a heel stop 7, a slidable toe stop 8, and on intermediately disposed girth measuring device 15, and a single control link directly interconnecting the girth measuring device and the toe stop and coacting with means on the support so that when the toe stop is moved the girth measuring device is displaced automatically to maintain it at a distance from the heel stop equal to threequarters of the distance between the stops. The distance of the device 15 from the heel support is about 75% of the distance between the heel and toe supports. The carrier 15 may swivel slightly about disc 16. A control link 12 has a pin 13 secured to the toe stop 8, a pin 14 engaged in a slot 15B in carrier 15, and a pin 17 engaged in a cam slot 6 in control plate 5. Thus as the toe stop is moved relatively to the heel stop link 12 is moved and is pivoted by means of slot 6, carrier 15 is thus moved relatively to the toe stop so that it occupies the desiredposition between stops 7 and 8. Carrier 15 has a graduated strap 18 which is adjusted to the foot and the girth measurement read off on the tape at the point where it leaves the carrier The size and fitting are indicated on scale 10.
