630,312. Foot-measuring appliances. HOWLETT, A. July 16, 1946, No. 21281. [Class 17 (iii)] [Also in Group XVII] A device for measuring the overall length of a foot and its girth at various localities comprises a base 1 with a heel abutment 3 at one end and an abutment 4 slidable longitudinally of the base in slots 2 or in a central slot between the slots 2 to contact the big toe and to give, on scales 6, the length of a foot placed thereon. A flexible tape 7 is threaded through the slots 2 and movable along the base 1 to permit girth measurements to be taken. The measuring device may be incorporated in a foot-fitting stand, or form part, e.g. a lid, bottom or side panel, of a boot box, the abutments 3, 4 being hinged to fold out of the way.
