Lighting burners, lighting-holes, doors, and the like for. - In a gas-fired oven or the like, the burner is mounted in a screwthreaded aperture in a plate 1 having an opening 3 presenting on the interior side of the oven wall 4, a seat 5 engageable by a door 6 attached loosely by a rivet 8 to a pivoted lever 7 carrying a weight 12, or acted upon by a spring, so that the door is held normally on the seat 5 but may be opened by the act of inserting a torch for lighting the burner and closes automatically on withdrawal of the torch. The door preferably consists of a segmental spherical sheet of non- corrodible metal, and a seat member of similar material may be pressed into the opening 3.
