Abstract
255,616. Dehn, F. B., (Universal Oil Products Co.). June 29, 1925. Hydrocarbons, cracking. - In a process for cracking hydrocarbon oils in which the oil is passed under pressure through a pipe still 2 into a reaction chamber 7, the vapours from which pass through a dephlegmator 12 to a condenser 18, and reflux from the dephlegmator is circulated with the fresh oil through the pipe still, the reflux and the fresh oil are mixed in such proportions that complete distillation takes place, a solid residue being left in the reaction chamber. The dephlegmator 12 may be cooled by condensate from the condenser 18 forced by a pump 26 through a pipe 27 or by part of the fresh oil forced by a pump 4 through a pipe 13<1>. The remainder of the fresh oil passes by a pipe 3 into a pipe 14 which conveys part of the reflux liquid from the base of the dephlegmator to the pipe still 2. The remainder of the reflux is withdrawn through a pipe 13<c>. If liquid oil collects in the chamber 7. it is withdrawn by pipes 29. Specification 185,439 is referred to.
