Abstract
254,682. Landis et Gyr Soc. Anon. July 1, 1925, [Convention date]. Sparking, preventing. - A switch comprising fixed and movable contacts 2, 8, Fig. 3, is provided with a shunt path formed of a series of contacts 16 each located in the centre of an insulating disc 15. After the main contacts 2, 8 have opened the current flows through this shunt path until the discs are separated from each other bv further movement of the switch arm 7 whereupon the resultant spark is divided between the gaps formed by adjacent contact 16. The discs are mechanically connected with play by metal strips 18, Fig. 5, to each other and to the switch arm 7 and a contact bar 14. When the switch is closed the inner contact 16 abuts against a fixed contact 20 mounted on a spring 19. The switch operating member 10 co-operates with blade springs 11, 12 to move the switch arm.
