Abstract

Arc and spark-gap apparatus, arrangements of. -Separately-excited continuous-current dynamos are connected in parallel with the load of a mercury rectifier installation so as to maintain the continuous current-pulses uniform. As shown a dynamo 11, excited by accumulators, is connected in parallel with the load 10, and between the cathode of the rectifier 1 and the star point of the secondary 2 of a transformer supplying the anodes. The potential and phase of control electrodes 5, mounted around the anode arms and connected with tappings on the transformer, are adjusted by means of a rotary transformer 6 and resistances 8, the phase of each control electrode being the same as that of the corresponding anode. The Specification, as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also the use of static condensers, or of dynamos, not separatelyexcited. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
