Abstract

254,276. Bragg, C. S., and Kliesrath, V. W. June 25, 1925, [Convention date]. Spray carburettors.-In engines, the suction of which is utilized to operate a suction-actuated device, " stalling " of the engine and interference with the operation thereof due to weakening of the mixture by air exhausted from the device, are prevented by providing a number of suction passages or manifolds, each supplying charges to certain of the cylinders and connecting the suction-actuated device to one or some, but less than the whole number of said suction passages. Each of the manifolds 61, 62, 63, Fig. 1, provided with its carburettor 64, 65, 66, supplies two cylinders, but the pipe 26 leading from the suction-actuated device, is connected only to the manifold 63. Other combinations are mentioned in which four or six cylinders are supplied from two manifolds, and eight, twelve or sixteen cylinders from separate manifolds supplying different groups. Specifications 245,444 and 248,728, [both in Class 8 (ii), Air and gas, Treating &c.], are referred to.
