Abstract

Reversible windows; fanlights. -The top and bottom sashes of a window are pivoted near their lower edges by means of slotted plates 12 on the sashes engaging studs 4 on plates 10 secured to the sash frame. The plates 10 and 12 are provided with bearing surfaces 17, 18, concentric with the stud 4 and with projections 14, 15 which are adapted to engage so as to prevent withdrawal of the sash from the frame when in the horizontal position. The stop beads are hinged at the sides and bottom of the frame, that for the top sash being separate and of greater depth than that for the bottom. The outside bead for the bottom sash is cut away at the meeting rail and has a part 6d projecting between the sashes. A pivoted fastening 19, Fig. 13, is adapted to secure the top sash in any suitable position by engaging a metal-lined recess in the frame or bead. The back part 20 is chamfered to allow the bead to hinge. The fastening is adapted, when upright, to prevent hinging of the bead. The bead may also be secured by means of a hinged stud housed in a recess of the bead and adapted to be projected therefrom.
