Chair keys. - A distance piece d used in securing flanged rails a to metal sleepers b bears on the rail flange and has a recess e large enough to receive a taper key f between it and the side of the rail flange. The opposite side of the rail is engaged by a distance piece d. The key and distance piece may be serrated on adjoining surfaces, while the point of the key, may be split for opening. Either the distance piece d or the lug c is tapered. Specifications 181,631 and 220,522 are referred to.
