Abstract

252,459. Bakewell, B. Feb. 27, 1925. Porous compositions.-A sound-absorbing composition capable of being applied as a plaster to parts of buildings comprises granulated slag, magnesium oxide, and chloride, and a mixture of powdered aluminium or zinc and slaked lime, with or without glue solution. Suitable proportions are 200 gm. of magnesium oxide, 250 c.c. of magnesium chloride of specific gravity 1.17, 10 c.c. of glue solution, 560-900 gm. of slag, 2.5 gm. of aluminium, and 10 gm. of slaked lime. The slag may be replaced by an equal volume of other fillers, for example pumice. The filler should be ground to particles of similar size, and be free from fine dust.
